Thanks to a reasonably warm and sunny day, we had a record turnout of 74 volunteers for the Stone Harbor spring beach sweep on Saturday, April 21st. Roughly 50 large bags were filled with trash and debris collected from the beaches between 80th street to The Point.

Stone Harbor Property Owners Association along with the Wetlands Institute and the Public Works department of the Borough coordinated the event that is organized twice a year by Clean Ocean Action (COA).

Details of COA’s beach sweeps can be found at http://www.cleanoceanaction.org

The next beach sweep will take place in the fall in October.
